INSET Half Days

The Board of Trustees of Forward Education Trust (FET) is increasing training opportunities for staff at Leycroft Academy from September 2026.

Leycroft Academy will have an extra 3 days of staff training per year from September 2026 onwards, making our total staff training day capacity 8 days in each school year.

The additional 3 days will be taken as 6 half days, in the afternoon, and school will be shut to pupils on those afternoons.

The 6 half day training afternoons will be:

Autumn term:

Tuesday 22nd September 2026

Wednesday 25th November 2026

Spring term:

Thursday 4th February 2027

Tuesday 16th March 2027

Summer term:

Wednesday 19th May 2027

Thursday 1st July 2027

On those 6 days and on those days only, we will change the school day, so that there will still be two sessions, but they will be:

Children arrive at the normal time, whether on transport or by parents.
First session  8.50am10.45am
Second session  11.00am12.00pm
Lunch break: Lunch time as normal
Children to be collected at, or transport leaves school at  1pm on these days.

Transport will run as normal on all days on the journey to school, or if you bring your child to school, they should arrive at the normal start of the day.

We have planned with transport on each of the 10 days in question for children to be collected at the end of lunch and brought home to you.  If you normally collect your child from school, please collect them at the end of lunch break (times detailed above).

This is an important change and step forward for us all, an opportunity for us to professionally develop staff colleagues, which will benefit your children over time. We firmly believe this way forward is in the best interests of your children and young people.  If we are going to continue improving, so that our pupils have the very best experiences, we must make these significant changes to the amount of training that our staff receive, and we will do our utmost to ensure that it is a successful initiative.
